We represent Friends of Daisy Mountain Trails, a community-based 501(c)(3) organization
committed to preserving and promoting public access trails on Daisy Mountain. Daisy Mountain
is over 5,000 acres of Arizona State Trust Land and is located between Anthem and New River.
The Friends of Daisy Mountain Trails' mission is to establish and maintain a safe and scenic
public trail system on Daisy Mountain for hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians, with
connections to other formal trails. The plan has been to establish trailheads for access to Daisy
Mountain and to maintain a system of trails for recreational use.
In 2019, the Maricopa County Parks & Recreation Department completed a comprehensive trail
survey, prepared legal descriptions, and submitted a trail easement application to obtain the
trail easement over the mountain. This would have secured legal trail access and contributed to
an additional phase of the Maricopa Trail. While we understand that the pandemic delayed
many initiatives, we believe now is the time to re-engage and move forward.
Research shows that most new outdoor recreation users tend to explore within a 10-mile radius
of their homes. This makes protecting public access to Daisy Mountain critically important,
especially as the North Valley experiences rapid population growth.
improved trail infrastructure—including designated trailheads, parking, and
signage with unique identifier codes—can support emergency services like the Daisy Mountain
Fire & Medical Department in responding more efficiently to incidents on the mountain.
We need volunteers in all areas. Weather you would like helping in a director role, or maybe administrative, or just in the background; WE NEED YOU!
